Someone from my story class just handed me one of my things. “I hope the comments don’t hurt your feelings,” she said, and I instantly knew that I wasn’t going to read them.
“Oh, I don’t think they will,” I said, “Thank you.” Negative comments don’t usually bother me anymore, but people who think my feelings are their business—well, can you think of a surer sign of bad taste? Anyway, there are only two people whose comments I read, and she’s not one of them.
